The Breeze Comforter

The Breeze Comforter is completely made from eucalyptus lyocell and is perfect for anybody that is a warm sleeper, lives in a warmer climate, or wants a comforter for seasonal use. Because it is made entirely from natural materials, the Breeze is fully biodegradable and compostable. It also doesn’t include any essential oils, is hypoallergenic, and is safe for pets and kids. It also includes loops in every corner to attach to any Buffy duvet cover to make sure it stays in place.

Prices

Twin/Twin XL: $199

Full/Queen: $239

King/Cal King: $279

The Materials

The Breeze is made entirely from something called eucalyptus lyocell which is a solvent made from eucalyptus and creates a low environmental impact.

The solvent-spinning process that makes this material recycles process water and reuses any excess solvent “At a recovery rate of more than 99%, resulting in one of the lowest impact fibers on the planet” (Buffy.co).

Both the shell and the interior stuffing are made with this material so it creates a breathable, light, and fluffy comforter. A benefit of having this comforter be made entirely from eucalyptus lyocell is that it absorbs moisture effectively which allows it to keep you feeling cool and dry all night.

To top it all off, the lyocell shell is made from 300 single-ply thread count sateen weave meaning that it is silky smooth.

How it Feels

The eucalyptus lyocell absorbs moisture and is a breathable material that keeps you dry and comfortable throughout the night. This material is silky to the touch, further emphasizing how it is a great option for hot sleepers. Additionally, the fluffy interior stuffing causes the comforter to be lighter overall.

Buffy also makes Eucalyptus and Hemp Linen duvet covers that pair nicely with this comforter. The eucalyptus duvet cover is smooth and the hemp linen duvet cover is slightly textured and both offer great color options.

Why this Comforter is so Sustainable

The Breeze is one of the most sustainable comforters on the market because it is made entirely from eucalyptus lyocell, a natural material that Buffy makes sure is sustainably harvested.

While the eucalyptus is growing, some of the benefits include that it requires fewer pesticides to grow, less water to process, and emits 24% less CO2e than cotton.

Care Instructions

It is recommended that this comforter is dry clean only and that you should use a duvet cover to extend the life of the product.

The Cloud Comforter

The Cloud Comforter is made from the same eucalyptus lyocell fibers that the Breeze was made from, but the stuffing is made from recycled PET that is 100% GRS-certified and BPA-free. Similar to the Breeze, this comforter also contains no essential oils, is hypoallergenic, and is safe for pets and kids. The difference between the two comforters is that the recycled PET filling traps in heat better, creating a comforter that is still light but helps keep you warmer throughout the night.

Prices

Twin/Twin XL: $129

Full/Queen: $169

King/Cal King: $209

The Materials

The cover of the Cloud Comforter is made from the same eucalyptus lyocell as the Breeze. Because of this, the cover is also a silky smooth, 300 single-ply thread count sateen weave.

Also, like the Breeze, the Cloud has loops in the corner to easily attach to any of the Buffy eucalyptus or hemp linen duvet covers.

The main difference between the two comforters is that for the Cloud, the stuffing is made from recycled PET that is 100% GRS-certified and BPA-free. This allows the comforter to effectively trap in just enough heat to keep you warm without needing to kick off the covers.

How it Feels

As mentioned above, the cover of the Cloud is silky to the touch and the recycled PET filling traps in just enough heat to be warm without overheating. The fluffy filling creates a light comforter that is lovely to curl up under each night.

Why this Comforter is so Sustainable

The eucalyptus lyocell fibers are made from wood gathered from sustainably managed forests.

The recycled water bottles that make up the PET filling for the Cloud helped to divert four million plastic bottles from going into the landfill or the ocean in 2020 alone

Care Instructions

It is recommended to wash the duvet cover in cold water and hang to dry. Buffy also recommends using a duvet cover to extend the life of the product.

How to Use the Comforters

Buffy recommends that you use a duvet cover on the comforter to improve their lifespan. To help keep the comforter in place and make it easier to put on, they have loops in the corners that easily attach to the ties in the Eucalyptus and Hemp Linen duvet covers that Buffy also sells.

Return and 7-Day Policy

Buffy has a 7-night free trial where they put a hold on your credit card to make sure the payment is valid. If you decide to return it within the trial, they will void the charge.

If you need more than 7-nights to figure out if you want to keep your order, you have 30-days from when you purchased it to get a free return and full refund.

Why Buffy Comforters are an Example of Good Design

Overall Aesthetics

Both comforters are very sleek and minimalist designs. They have simple patterns stitched into them that help to keep the stuffing in place and add some visual interest to their form. When paired with either the eucalyptus or hemp linen duvet cover, these comforters will make any space look luxurious.

The Simplicity of the Design

The simplicity of the comforter helps to make it fit seamlessly into any bedding setup. The duvet covers that Buffy offers add to this simplicity and help to make this bedding option something that can easily be added to and customized to fit the customer’s unique style.

Lasting Quality

The durability of eucalyptus lyocell in addition to the high-quality stitching means that these comforters are designed to last. The 300 thread count makes for a luxuriously soft cover that you will be sad to have to put a duvet cover over.

Design Adaptability

With the simple design of the duvet cover in addition to these comforters, this setup is easily adaptable to any bedroom. With the addition of artwork, accent pillows, and other personal items in the space, Buffy’s bedding options fit seamlessly into whatever style the customer is trying to create in the space.

Ethical Integrity

Some light research revealed that Buffy uses ethical manufacturing processes, however, there was nothing on their website that talked specifically about it.

Environmental Conscientiousness

Both comforters are made from eucalyptus lyocell which is harvested from sustainably managed forests and is produced with water-saving practices. The Cloud comforter also includes a filling that has helped to divert four million plastic bottles from reaching the landfill and the ocean.

Social Awareness

Buffy is very aware of their impact on the Earth and is actively working towards making as little of an impact as possible in every aspect of production.

Use of the Elements and Principles of Design

The use of lines within both styles helps to add visual interest to the comforters and look good enough that they almost don’t seem to need a duvet cover, even though Buffy recommends one to help prolong the life of the product.

Designing for the End-User

Both comforters are designed to offer something for two different types of sleepers. For those who run hot at night, Buffy designed the Breeze to be breathable and cooling to help you not overheat. In contrast, the Cloud is designed to keep in just the right amount of heat to keep you cozy but you don’t need to kick off the covers in the middle of the night.

Ease of Use

Buffy has a very easy website to use with a lot of great information. Getting the products shipped to you is fast and simple, and their 7-day free trial period helps to make sure you love their products before you commit to purchasing them.

The Overall Experience

Buffy comforters are revolutionary with their approach to sustainability, their quality of production, and their comfort for different types of sleepers. It is evident that the end-user and the environment were both considered in the making of these products.

Are Buffy Comforters Worth it?

Buffy comforters are some of the most sustainable options on the market. While they can be pricey, it is important to understand that you are buying something that is designed to last and its production made much less of an impact on the Earth than other brands. The quality and comfort of these products make them a worthy purchase that you will enjoy for many years.
